In 2010 the Holden Scramble, Australasia’s largest and most
successful team’s event, will enter its nineteenth season.
Over the last 18 years over 650,000 amateurs have played in more
than 5500 local Scramble events throughout Australia and New
Zealand all competing for their chance to play alongside some of
Australia and New Zealand’s biggest names in golf at the
Championship final on the Sunshine Coast.
Major sponsor Holden, along with supporting sponsors Callaway Golf,
Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Twin
Waters Golf Club & Golf Australia Magazine will help ensure
that the 2010 season is yet again another success.
In 2010 the Holden
Scramble will be played as a four person teams ambrose event, under
a new elimination style format as outlined below:
• All team members tee
off each hole
• Team chooses the shot they are going to use
• The golfer whose shot is taken is eliminated from participating
in the next shot
• A player is only eliminated for the one shot following his/her
selected shot
• This process continues up until the ball is on the putting green,
and then all four players have the oppurtunity to sink the
putt.
• All four players tee off the next hole and the revised
elimination process begins again, until ball is placed on the
putting green
• The eliminated player cannot take a practice shot or putt during
the time they are eliminated
• Should a player take a shot or putt during the time they are
eliminated such a situation would be handled with a two stroke
penalty and would be considered as “taking a practice shot” under
the Rules of Golf.
For the purpose of the
Holden Scramble a putt is considered to be a putt when the ball
lies on the green.
• For example:
- Peter, Paul, John & Jane tee off the first hole, Peter’s
drive is selected as the best shot
- Peter is eliminated for the next shot and only Paul, John &
Jane take the second shot
- Jane’s second shot is selected as the best shot out of Paul, Jane
& John’s second shot
- Jane is eliminated for the next shot, unless her shot lands on
the putting green, then Peter, Paul, John & Jane can putt.
- Peter, Paul, John & Jane continue to putt until they sink the
putt.
- Peter, Paul, John & Jane all tee off the second hole &
the revised elimination process starts again
The three tee shot rule,
will remain unchanged for this year.
